A Whole Houseful of Art For a Few Dollars
I decided at the age of fifty something, that it was high time we put some beautiful artwork up on the barren walls of our home. Our life needed colour, focus, visual stimulation. We needed art. Just the usual problem stood in the way of us having some lifestyle expression in our living space. Money! No Money, that is! Art, had always been for rich people, sitting at posh snooty auctions buying their dreary old paintings for top dollar and the higher the price, the prouder they are of it. I would need to find another way. I spent about $1000 dollars buying art materials, paints, brushes, pastels, watercolours and charcoals, canvas, drawing papers etc.I then spent a year of my life attending art collage; painting and drawing my heart out. I produced hundreds of drawings and paintings, including 5 huge ones on canvas. This did accomplish exactly what I had set out to do; fill my home with colourful excitement. It was a whole bunch of fun and time and money. Was it worth it? Yes!...BUT... ...I could have done it with WAY less time, energy and money than I spent. If only I knew then what I know now. I have since made a discovery that makes that whole year and the one thousand dollars look like an unnecessary expense. Art Auctions. You will not be able to believe the prices you are seeing when you browse through the live auction listings. Original paintings for $1.00. Hundreds and thousands of pieces of art from all over the world that are selling all day and night for under $5, under $!0, even art for one cent. I can't print my own art for that people. If I wanted my house to be full of paintings, abstracts and drawings I could do it for less that one hundred dollars and a couple of hours at an On-Line Art Auction. Large detailed photos of the artworks can be viewed at your leisure and bidding done slowly and carefully. There is absolutely EVERY KIND of Art going for next to nothing right now. Check out Art Auctions and you'll see what I mean. Try bidding on a number of items from one seller to save on shipping costs whenever possible. You can use a credit card or paypal account, bid till you win and then start putting up paintings. |
