Canada Red Mittens Trance

The hunt is now on for the elusive Canadian 2010 Olympic Red Mittens. Now that Oprah has worn them on her TV show, there is not a mitten to be found. Late last week Feb 18, 2010, HBC briefly had thousands of the now famous red mittens in stock.
People have been lining up for most of a day to get to the red mitten bin and then lining up again to pay for them. One helpful fellow tweeted about how to avoid the cashier line by taking the escalator up to the 4th floor of the BAY department store in downtown somewhere. Apparently, no one figured out that you don't have to pay for the mittens at the cashier right next to the bin, or even on the same floor. It's a mute point now though; the HBC is out of stock in all sizes once again as of Feb 21, 2010. Do NOT despair though, there are still plenty of the fuzzy red flashers out there for sale on-line. If you can't shop on-line, you may have to have a friend who can get a pair for you. All of the street stores are out of stock and will stay out of stock now that HBC has released their last shipment on Feb 4. The red mittens bins are empty, but we still got to have a pair. The blogoshpere is jammed with people lamenting "Where can I buy a pair of olympic red mittens". This is reminiscent of Heathcliffe calling for Catherine over the moors in Wuthering Heights. Red Mitten Madness! It's like we've all gone into a red mitten trance; hypnotized by the endless flashing and strobing of those little white maple leafs that people keep popping out of their red palms at us. Some red mitten lovers have even blazened the little maple leaf with glow in the dark action, by carefully painting the whole white maple leaf with glow in the dark fabric paint that will not wash off. This glow in the dark stuff REALLY glows, even if it only gets charged up by lamplight. Flashing your white leafed palms at someone these days is the equivalent to flashing a warm and welcoming smile, Canadian style. I guess when you add the glow in the dark paint, it's like having your mitten's teeth whitened at the dentist office. I am definitely going to get some glow and pimp my mittens out Hollywood style. Perhaps a bit of serious bling right in the middle of the leaf would make them even hotter. So. Where can we get out mitts on a pair of those Canada red mitts? You can buy them very simply on-line. There are still thousands listed for sale at on-line shopping sites that currently list the Buy Red Mittens ads.
