Do Fairy Dolls Have Spirits
By Faer E. Dahl
Do fairy dolls end up having their own spirits? At first glance, this seems a silly question, more for a child than an adult. However, recent experience has opened my eyes, ears & mind to the possibility that these very special little fairy dolls have embedded within them a very real spirit. I have a few theories as to how this could be. Mainly, I think that the energy and spirit of an artist who creates a work of art, ends up being part of the finished work. The energy can even be seen and photographed by certain sensitive eyed people and cameras. I have seen & heard of this in the other art genres such as drawing and painting, but it had never occurred to me how that process would manifest itself in a fairy doll. Of course, one's ability to perceive the doll spirit would depend on one's state of mind and personal core belief system. In other words, instead of 'seeing is believing', the saying should be 'believing is seeing'. In fact very few people claim to have actually seen a fairy or spirit. The energy of these beings is very light and rarely dense enough to be seen by human eyes, yet there still have been many sightings over thousands of years. Some observers have captured the fairy visit on video and have posted it to You Tube. There are some very interesting video clips of "fairies" visiting gardens, but nothing that is definitive proof of the existence of the tiny beings. Recently I had the good fortune to meet a whole village of fairy spirit dolls, just before they went to the artists' Christmas Opening in December. There were about 20 of the fairy dolls in her collection and they were all perched very life like on branches, rocks, seashells, stumps and flowerpots; almost as if they had gathered for a meeting in the woods. Right away, I could feel the presence that the dolls commanded and I was utterly enthralled with every tiny detail of their faces, hair, jewellery, gowns, wings and miniature environments. As I gazed at the fairy dolls, I became aware that I felt shy or embarrassed; almost as if I had been caught staring at people I had not met. There was an awkward moment of confusion for me, where by I wondered at my own reaction. Then, I heard a distinct little group of voices laughing and mocking my point of view. "What on earth is happening? This is unreal! They're just DOLLS!" They mimicked my own inner thoughts, sprinkled with lively, friendly, good-natured laughter. After a few moments, the artist returned to the studio where we were viewing the dolls. She took one look at my face and said; "Did you hear them? They're really something aren't they?" I just nodded, not sure what I had heard. Not really! Besides, I had just met this artist and wanted her to think that I was a professional, not a loon! I had to get home, so I thanked her for her time and the chance to see her incredible artwork up close. While I was driving the 1 hour drive home that day, I just couldn't stop thinking about and seeing vivid images of those fairy dolls. They were so embedded with character and light; just like the artist herself. I guess the question that now remains is not whether the fairy dolls have a spirit; it is who's spirit do the dolls have? Is it the spirit of a spiritual being or a part of the artists' spirit that has been transferred through love and creativity. To answer THAT question, you will have to ask the fairy dolls themselves. I can't guarantee that you will hear an answer, but I am very sure that there will BE one. |
